PUBLIC SERVICES - HND

The HNC/HND in Public Services is a full time, work related course. The HNC is a one year course at Level 4, the HND two years at Level 5. This exciting and challenging course sets graduates up for careers in the Air Force, the Police, the Ambulance Service, the Fire Brigade, the Prison Service, the Royal Air Force, Army, the Navy and the Marines, just to name a few. Students will study the theories surrounding public policy and organisational management, as well as gaining essential practical skills that are essential to public sector work. The course fuses practical and theoretical learning strategies to ensure that students really get to grips with the academic content. Work experience placements form an integral part of the course, allowing students to build their own network of contacts in the public sector whilst enhancing their CVs. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in one of Britain's Uniformed Public Services: * Police Force * Ambulance Service * Fire Brigade * Paramedics * UK Border Agency * Prison Service * Revenue and Customs * Health Service * Army * Royal Navy * Royal Marines * Royal Air Force You will study the following core units: * Small-scale Research Projects in Public Services Organisations and Behaviour * Fair Treatment in Public Services * Psychology of Human and Criminal Behaviour * Sociological Aspects of the Public Services * Personal and Professional Development * Crime Reduction and Community Safety * Government, Decision-making and the Public Services * Managing Public Sector Finance * Research Project * Emergency Planning * Work-based Experience * Employability Skills * The Global Environment All LMC students receive tutorial support.
