This course introduces you to all aspects of computer games development, both practical and theoretical. The course is for anyone with an interest in the way games are developed and looking for a career in a range of jobs in the computer gaming industry. The course is suitable for those interested in computing and for those with an interest in art, design and media. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in a range of jobs in the computer gaming industry or who are progressing from related level 2 course. You will study the following 8 core units: * Pre-Production Techniques for the Creative Media Industries * Communication Skills for Creative Media Production * Research Techniques for the Creative Media Industries * Creative Media Production Management Project * Working to a Brief in the Creative Media Industries * Critical Approaches to Creative Media Products * Understanding the Computer Games Industry * 3D Modelling * 3D Environments Computer Game Platforms and Technologies and 11 optional units, such as: * Computer game engines * Computer Game Design * Sound for Computer Games * Graphic Narrative Production * Human-Computer Interfaces for Computer Games * Flash for Computer Games * Digital Graphics for Computer Games * 3D Animation * Computer game story development * Drawing concept art * Interactive media design This is a practical course made up of 19 units. These units give you the practical/technical skills to go on to either higher education or possible jobs in the computer gaming industry and also a theoretical understanding of the way games are designed. All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
