HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE - LEVEL 2

This level 2 course has been designed to provide a specialist work related qualification for the health and social care sector. It has been developed to provide a preparation for employment or to provide career opportunities for those already in work. The course is suitable for school leavers who wish to follow careers in the health and social care services or as a base for further education. You will study two core units and two mandatory units and a selection of optional specialist units as well as developing Functional Skills: Core units: * Human Lifespan Development (Externally examined) * Health and Social Care Values Mandatory units: * Effective Communication in Health and Social Care * Healthy Living (Externally examined) Optional specialist units: * Social Influences on Health and Well-being * Promoting Health and Well-being * Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care * Individual Rights in Health and Social Care * Human Body Systems and Care of Disorders * Services in Health and Social Care * The Health and Social Care Sector All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE Mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
