The course covers many issues that are frequently encountered in everyday life. "Science gives us the knowledge and understanding we need to engage", "as informed citizens, with science based issues." It enables us to make informed decisions about life choices such as environmental issues and health.<br /><br />Additional science is a concept-led course aimed at developing a deeper understanding of basic scientific ideas. The course focuses on scientific explanations and models and gives candidates an insight into how scientists develop scientific understanding of ourselves and the world we inhabit.
Name: Science GCSE: Additional Qualification title: GCSE in Additional Science A Qualification type: GCSE or equivalent Assessment The course is assessed by three exams at the end of the year for each of core and additional; one for Biology, one for Chemistry and one for Physics each worth 25%. The final 25% is for the controlled assessment task which will be done in lesson time involving a case study and a practical assessment.<br />Transferable skills<br />You will also develop the ability to interpret data, investigate facts and draw conclusions.
