Core 1 Develops from GCSE the techniques of Pure Mathematics in the areas of Algebra, Co-ordinate Geometry and introduces Calculus with the basic forms of differentiation and integration. Core 2 A wider range of functions are encountered in Algebra and Calculus plus the introduction of logarithms and exponentials, sequences and series and trigonometrical identities and related results. Core 3 This unit further develops techniques in algebra and functions, trigonometry, logarithms and calculus and also introduces the use of numerical methods to find approximate solutions to equations. Core 4 There is further study of more complex functions and their operations, trigonometrical identities, co-ordinate geometry, series and calculus. Formal vector geometry is introduced and differential equations are solved.
