Course Specification: A Level – AQA 7202 Entry Requirements: Art & Design GCSE Grade A* - B. Candidates will need to have, or be prepared to buy, their own basic art equipment and materials – a list is available. What is the course about? The AS course is essentially a foundation course, giving students the opportunity to explore a range of themes in a wide variety of media and materials. Students will produce practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas of study, for example, drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, instillation, printmaking, moving image (video, film, animation) and photography, so that a strong portfolio is created. What will I study for A Level? At A Level individuals can continue to study a range of media or explore a preferred medium or material. Unit Art 7202/c Personal Investigation No time limit 96 marks 60% of A Level Unit Art 7202/x Externally set assignment Preparatory period+15 hours supervised time 96 marks 40% of A Level The personal investigation now incorporates the written critical aspect of the course.
