This is for you if you want to take the first step towards joining the ambulance, fire, police or armed services. You'll develop practical skills, knowledge and understanding through typical activities you'll be expected to carry out serving the public. There's a strong focus on your own health, lifestyle and fitness. You'll take part in outdoor activities like map reading, high ropes and competitions organised by the services, this includes an overnight trip where you'll be observed performing command tasks to challenge your reactions and decision making. Your course will include key functional skills in communication. You'll do at least two visits to public service environments a term. Usually this includes the London Fire Brigade's fitness centre, a working prison and an emergency services' call centre. These trips give you the chance to talk to professionals and see real-life operations and help show you what your future could be.
