Five passes at GCSE is usual, although students may be accepted in other exceptional circumstances. Previous specific qualifications are NOT required but a range of creative skills will be advantageous. An interest in the public services is essential. Students should be able to work on their own initiative and have the flexibility to cope with both academic rigour and individual research. BTECs provide a practical, real-world approach to learning alongside a theoretical background, giving learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment. They also provide career development opportunities for those already in work. They can be taken as well as, or instead of, GCSEs and Advanced GCEs in schools and colleges. Students can access a wide range of career and higher education opportunities – including:- armed services, police or fire services, Events Management, Hospitality Operations, health and fitness, personal training, University, Management Training, college, Own Business, apprenticeships plus many other career paths.
