UPDATED 20161007 11:48:29

Students will need to have a grade B or higher in GCSE Mathematics and have followed the Higher Level Specification during Key Stage 4. The course consists of six modules. 3 are completed in Year 12 and the remaining 3 in Year 13. In Year 12 for Advanced Subsidiary Level the modules are Core 1, Core 2 and Statistics 1. In Year 13 the students complete their study for Advanced level Mathematics by studying Core 3, Core 4 and Mechanics 1. The four Core units involve the study of mathematical concepts and methods. Aspects of algebra, trigonometry and vectors are developed further, and calculus. Mathematics forms an integral part in the study of many other subjects at Advanced Level and beyond. The study of it is often a requirement for entry onto many degree courses, such as Mathematics, Economics, Engineering and the Sciences.
