This is an elementary level full time course for 15 19 year olds who have recently come to live in the UK and for whom English is not their first language. This is the 3rd stage of our ESOL PLUS courses. Learners will develop their English language skills within topic based contexts that are relevant to young people e.g. sport leisure and popular culture. We will work together on their speaking listening reading and writing skills so that learners can feel confident in communicating and responding appropriately in real life situations. Study skills are also developed to allow learners to progress to a higher level. Citizenship Geography History and Science are embedded into the course. A wide range of classroom activities is used including communication games project work audio visual and computer based learning. All learners will take classes in Maths and IT and will be able to work towards Functional Skills qualifications in these areas. All students have a personal tutor and will have access to a varied tutorial and enrichment programme covering issues relevant to young people and a number of interesting and challenging day trips and activities.
