This subject will allow the student to develop an advanced level understanding of chemical knowledge and practical applications. Candidates receive a good grounding in physical inorganic and organic chemistry. Topics include atomic structure bonding Group 2 reactions Group 7 reactions alkanes and alkenes and the reaction mechanism. In addition to these topics which are assessed through two exam papers each covering all topics in the specification. In addition there is also a graded assessment of practical skills which is undertaken throughout the year.
