Who is the programme for? Students over 16 wishing to enter higher education or pursue a career in sport, Health and Fitness, or related medical professions (e.g. Physiotherapy, Prosthetics, Dietetics) and science based occupations. What is the programme structure? The course programme provides a balance between sport and sporting applications. The programme is modular with approximately nine modules taken in each of the two years of study. What does the programme include? The units can typically include the following topics: - Anatomy for Sport and Exercise - Sport and Exercise Physiology - Sport and Exercise Psychology - Research Methods for Sport and Exercise Sciences - Research Project in Sport and Exercise Sciences - Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise Also a selection from: - Sports Biomechanics in Action - Exercise, Health and Lifestyle - Fitness Training and Programming - Sport and Exercise Massage - Analysis of Sports Performance - Sports Nutrition - Current Issues in Sport - Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise - Sports Injuries - Sports Coaching - Practical Individual Sports - Practical Team Sports - Outdoor and Adventurous Activities - Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology - Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology - Exercise for Specific Groups - Work Experience in Sport - Sports Facilities and Operational Management - Research Investigation in Sport and Exercise Sciences - Laboratory and Experimental Methods in Sport and Exercise Sciences - Profiling Sports Performance Study support will also be included. Are there any special facilities for the programme? Specialist sports facilities are available on site and include a fully equipped sports hall and fitness suite.
