This course is designed for those interested in a career in the television or film industry. Media City in Salford Quays has led to increased demand for media production skills, and the Extended Level3 Diploma is designed to prepare learners for the workplace or for higher levels of study in this area. We develop, train and mentor the practical and theoretical skills required to understand Media practices and succeed in future employment or higher education. Equivalent of 3 A levels for university entry. 18 units will be studied over 2 years and these are tailored to suit the diverse range of skills required, and opportunities available in the television and film industry. All units are assessed through projects or assignments and therefore it is expected that students work on their projects equally hard outside College as well as within the timetabled lessons. Theory and practical skills will be developed and linked throughout the course. Example projects undertaken are: Music video production Single camera production Film studies Installation video production Television studio production Corporate and promotional video production for real clients Editing techniques Developing TV idents using motion graphics Second year students will have the opportunity of showcasing their productions to the public and invited clients as part of the final year show in June.
