The BTEC Nationals in Sport have been developed to focus on: ? Education and training for employees in the sport sector. ? Providing opportunities for employees in the sport sector to achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the sports sector or to progress to higher education vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel Level 5 BTEC Higher Nationals in Sport or Sport and Exercise Sciences. ? Giving learners the opportunity to develop a range or skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. The Level 3 BTEC Certificate and Subsidiary Diploma combine into a two year course. Learners will study three mandatory content areas: Unit 1?Anatomy and Physiology Unit 2?Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being Unit 3- Professional Development in the Sports Industry. Learners will also choose one optional unit from a range which has been designed to support choices in progression to sport courses in higher education, and to link with relevant occupational areas. On successful completion of a BTEC National Qualification, learners can progress into employment in the sport and recreational sector or continue their study in the same vocational area or use the qualification to count towards entrance to a range of academic degree courses.
