This course will cover: - The types of social care support available to adults (assignment). - The range of jobs available in adult social care and be able to identify two roles you would like to consider. - The values and principles of adult social care and demonstrate your understanding in group discussions throughout the programme (assignment). - The importance of diversity within adult social care and demonstrate your understanding in group discussions throughout the programme. - The range of skills and attitudes essential to work in adult social care and evaluate your current abilities to identify learning needs (assignment). - The communication skills needed in adult social care and demonstrate how and when to use them. - How adult social care workers can meet the communication and language needs of individuals and be able to reduce some of the barriers to communication (assignment). - The importance of record keeping in adult social care settings and complete a multi-choice quiz that identifies your observation and listening skills. - The responsibilities of the adult social care worker (Safeguarding Adults Alerter level) and be able to contribute to verbal discussions about how to protect people. - The role of the adult social care worker and be able to demonstrate your understanding of your duty of care (assignment). Please bring pen and paper. It may be useful for you to buy a folder as well. By the end of the course learners will be able to: identify the kinds of jobs available in Adult Social Care; state the values, principles skills and attitudes of Social Care; explain the importance of diversity and communication in Adult Social Care.
