This course will follow AQA GCSE English specification. There will be no requirement to complete coursework but you must undertake frequent Controlled Assessment tasks in class time instead. Controlled Assessments form a high percentage of the final grade awarded and cannot be missed. You MUST be prepared to undertake homework between each session to succeed on this course and should anticipate a minimum of 3 hours' work per week and often more. You must be able to attend every session of this course as it is very difficult to catch up on missed classes and assessments given the intense nature of the course. Your final exam will be in Oxford so it will be necessary for you to travel. If you wish to retake an exam, there will be a cost to you. You will require an A4 pad of paper, pens, a folder and an English dictionary. You will also need to buy your own copy of a Shakespeare play, study notes and a copy of a selected novel. Your tutor will provide full details of these required texts.
