In 1960 Kubrick wrote that Bergman was then the world's greatest active filmmaker. Through films like Bergman's Summer Interlude, Wild Strawberries and The Seventh Seal together with Kubrick's The Killing and Barry Lyndon we will explore how these two writer/directors worked collaboratively with recurring actors and crew managing to use studio finance without forfeiting creative independence and cinematic vision.
