This course is about creativity and is for you if you're interested in 'traditional' art and design. On the course you will be introduced to a wide range of creative activities including drawing painting collage and sculpture work. What is the course structure? The course is made up of 8 units. The first 7 units enable you to study particular areas in depth and Unit 8 will require you to complete a Final Major Project where you will devise produce and present a large scale piece of work of your choosing supported by your teachers. Minimum age requirement 16 What subjects will I study? Units are Introduction to materials processes and technical skills in art & design Introduction to contextual research in art & design Introduction to drawing skills Introduction to communication skills in art & design Solving 2D creative problems Solving 3D creative problems Solving time-based creative problems Developing and producing a personal project in art & design (Final Major Project) Successful students will obtain a UAL Level 2 Diploma. Students passing the course with Merit or above can go on to study at level 3 (i.e. 90 Credit/Extended Diploma in Art and Design Graphic Design or Interactive Media course) training or employment. GCSE English & Maths As part of their overall Study Programme students will also be required to attend FS/GCSE English and/or Maths classes if they have yet to achieve a GCSE Grade C in either subject.
