IT professionals are in constant demand across all sectors, industries and business environments that use technology. This course will help you to develop your skills in troubleshooting problems, configuring operating systems and fixing hardware issues, plus much more. With further study or training, jobs roles in IT include: IT technician, software engineer, programmer, network engineer, web developer, systems analyst and project manager. Extended Description This is a practical hands on course based in purpose built labs within the college. You will learn all the elements that a real IT Support Technician needs to know to do their job. The course covers troubleshooting PC problems and replacing faulty PC components. Installing and configuring different operating systems and software that is found on modern computer systems. Units you will study: - Communication in IT (Mandatory) - Working in IT (Mandatory) - Hardware - Setting up an IT Network - Computer Systems - Computer Games Design - Website Development There is also a possibility of doing Maths and English at GCSE if students wish to gain Grade Cs depending on timetable and availability. We run a series of taster session during the year for you to come and have a go at to see if it is the right choice for you. Future Opportunities After successful completion of this course, you can move on to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Information Technology - Level 3. You could also find work as in a junior role or as trainee in IT.

Name: Information Technology - Level 2 Qualification title: Diploma in IT (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment You will study a combination of practical and theory subjects. Each assessment will be graded at pass, merit or distinction level and is continuous throughout the duration of your course. You will be assessed by coursework. There are no exams. Whilst taking one of our full-time courses you will also complete a programme of Functional Skills which could comprise of a combination of English, Math and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
