FE Choices in a new and exciting programme that finally delivers the flexibility that reflects the ambition of our learners. The course is designed to give students the opportunity to study in a variety of different subject areas and get to know many aspects of the college, in terms of staff and subjects. This course is for young people who need extra support through the changeover from school to college, especially if you did not get on very well at school and would like to try a range of different subjects before deciding on a career direction or need extra encouragement. This course helps you learn about work and includes a work placement. We will also help you get a qualification in English, maths, cookery or IT. In addition, you go on trips and take part in fundraising activities. Extended Description You will do lots of practical work and will cover lots of different skills including: English & maths IT Skills Personal Development Taster sessions in various subjects including hair, beauty and construction It is expected that you would undertake some work experience as part of the course, this is usually in the form of voluntary projects co-ordinated by the tutors. Future Opportunities Once you have completed this course, you will be able to go onto study the Level 1 course in the college, where you will develop your skills further and then be ready to go and work in the industry.

Name: FE Choices - Entry 3 & Level 1 Qualification title: BTEC Award in Vocational Studies (Entry 3) (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment You will be assessed throughout the year using your portfolio of evidence and tests. There is an online exam which assesses the Health and Safety aspect of the course. Whilst taking one of our full-time courses you will also complete a programme of Functional Skills which could comprise of a combination of English, Math and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
