Course Description Do you want to work in construction but don't know in which area would suit you? Or do you want to learn basic skills in different areas so you can work across a site? If the answer to either is yes then this course is a great way to start. You will learn basic skills in Carpentry & Joinery, Painting & Decorating and Bricklaying. We run a series of taster session during the year for you to come and have a go at Construction to see if this is the right choice for you. Extended Description This course cover a range of hand-skills and practical tasks in the following trade areas: - Bricklaying - Carpentry and Joinery - Painting & Decorating - Construction Operations It is expected that you would undertake some work experience as part of the course, this is usually in the form of voluntary projects co-ordinated by the tutors. For example you may go and work for a local cricket club helping to develop their facilities as part of the NatWest CricketForce or help local organisations and charities with basic building and landscaping works. Future Opportunities Once you have completed this course, you will be able to go onto study a Level 1 Construction qualification, where you will develop your skills further and then be ready to go and work in the industry. You can go onto become a multi-trade property maintenance operative or move into a specific trade.

Whilst taking one of our full-time courses you will also complete a programme of Functional Skills which could comprise of a combination of English and Math. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
