Who is the course for? This qualification is designed for people of all ages who are interested in starting a career in Bench Joinery or Site Carpentry. This course is suitable for both 16-18 year olds and those considering a change of career or occupation. What can it lead to? Learners can progress to a level 2 Diploma in Bench Joinery or site carpentry. We'll also grant you access to our excellent partnerships with local employers and trade links, providing work experience and apprenticeship opportunities across London. What will I study? Practical elements: Maintain & use carpentry & joinery hand tools Prepare & use carpentry & joinery power tools Identify how to read technical drawing Produce woodworking joints used in bench joinery & site carpentry Knowledge elements: In addition to the knowledge required to perform the above practical tasks you will be supported to learn these additional theory elements: Health, safety & welfare in construction - When working in construction environment it is a legal requirement that you are able to identify potential hazards and use systems of work that ensures the Health, Safety and Welfare of yourself and other around you. Principles of building construction, information & communication - What types of building site drawings and documents are used? How do I identify key information within them? What roles do the key professionals perform on site? What building materials are used in construction and where are they used? How do I run and manage a building site?"
