This programme is an in service qualification for employed teachers or trainers in the Post Compulsory Education and Training sector who wish to gain a recognised, national teaching qualification. The programme is accredited by the university of Greenwich but taught at Bromley College. The 2-year programme consists of flexible distance learning courses and is suitable for those trainees who live some distance from the college, have irregular work hours (eg shift work) or who cannot attend a weekly class. Trainees are guided and supported by their assigned personal tutor and attend study days held in half term breaks, group and individual tutorials.. Students for these courses usually come from a wide range of teaching or training environments (e.g. colleges, the Police Force, Local Authority Services, private companies, National Health Service). If you already have a degree you will gain the PGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education) qualification. If you do not have a degree you will gain the DET (Diploma in Education) qualification.
