The IAB is the longest established professional body for book-keeping. It was formed in 1973, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards in book-keeping. It holds its examinations in over 90 countries throughout the world. This course is suited to those who have little or no experience of finance, and who may be looking for a career change. Candidates will learn the basics of business routines and from this foundation can go confidently on to Level 2. Double entry is not covered (see Level 2). The IAB Level 1 Award in Computerised Bookkeeping is aimed at individuals who wish to begin their studies of computerised bookkeeping and gain an entry level qualification at Level 1 of the National Framework from a point of no previous knowledge. It could also be used by those candidates who have some practical knowledge and skills and wish to gain an accredited qualification in the subject.
