This is a course for those who have a keen interest in creative subjects and want to enhance and extend their practical 2D and 3D skills. During this course you will gain practical experience working in state-of-the-art studios and create art and design work that is self-directed and supported by tutors with professional experience.You will learn how to explain and evaluate your own working methods through discussion and assignments. You will have many opportunities to produce and exhibit your own work to the general public as well as being supported to create a professional portfolio for university or industry.This multi-disciplinary programme encompasses traditional and specialist subjects such as:DrawingPaintingIllustrationFine artCeramics3D designSculpturePhotographyTextilesGraphicsVisual communicationGlass.You will work on creative projects that are based upon realistic workplace situations and scenarios. The syllabus ensures you develop knowledge and understanding of the creative skills that will be required for you to move into an art, craft and design profession.Educational visits will also form an integral part of the curriculum. Dedicated sessions will investigate and define HE pathways and progression during year 2. Functional skills are also embedded into your programme.

Assessments will be project based, set and marked by course tutors. There will also be externally set tasks that will be marked by the awarding body.Year 2 culminates in a final exhibition, ArtsFest, which is open to the public. Entry requirements

The majority of materials - paper, clay, card, plaster and plastics - are provided free of charge. However, students are expected to provide for themselves sketchbooks and a tool-box containing a range of drawing, painting, craft-tools, stationery and a pocket dictionary - thesaurus. An A1 portfolio in order to transport work to and from college is also required. An equipment list will be issued to learners upon acceptance onto the course.
