Family History Getting Started

Aims: To introduce learners to the basic principles and methods of family history research. Carry out basic process in family history research and the importance of evidence. Describe the difference between primary and secondary sources. Investigate and interpret documents relating to birth marriage and death before and after 1837. Accurately locate census records relating to your family. Describe what these different sources can tell you about your ancestors. Use various online resources for family history research. Know where to go to find sources that are not online. Plan organise and document your research.
