Course shortcode: ACC02 A Level Accounting complements other business-related subjects, such as Business Studies and Economics, although it can be studied alongside any other A Level. Knowledge of financial management is useful in any high level employment role. Accountancy graduates often enter professional training contracts with local, national and international organisations, while some use their knowledge to pursue careers in management and business, and others continue their studies to become accountants specialising in fields such as taxation. During the first year you will consider the recording of financial information for small businesses and the final accounts of Limited Companies, as well as how these records can provide management with vital information for measuring and monitoring business performance. In second year you will build on this knowledge and consider the accounts of partnerships, the published accounts of companies and the international rules which govern accounting practices and policies. You will also learn ways to produce end of year financial statements from incomplete accounting records.
