Being a chef is one of the most satisfying and rewarding jobs that anyone can do. There is a huge demand for skilled qualified chefs. This course will build upon the skills and knowledge you would have developed during your level 2 course and the work experience you have undertaken. Your course will include:- Advanced skills and techniques in meat, poultry, game, fish. Boning and filleting skills Supervisory skills Management and the supervision of food safety English and maths The course is designed to give you a high level of practical skills and a much deeper knowledge of the theory behind cooking. Your will also develop your supervisory skills during your course. You will be expected to develop menus, source and order food and lead the kitchen brigade in one of our outstanding commercial restaurants. You will be able to use the latest equipment and practice new techniques using molecular gastronomy and sous vide. Understanding the food process is an important part of the course and you will undertake visits to farms, producers, processors and suppliers to fully understand the processes involved. You will also be expected to enter internal and external competitions. The qualifications you will study are the City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking (General) and either functional skills or GCSE qualifications in English and Maths.
