This course offers a unique opportunity to bring your images of historic or contemporary Richmond (or other area of your choice) to life through the creative printmaking process. Beginners can learn how to make drypoints and linocuts, while more experienced practitioners can experiment with etching, aquatint and other more complex printmaking techniques. In a supervised workshop with a skilled tutor you will create original prints based on your drawings and/or photographs of your chosen area of Richmond. This could be architecture, the river, people or landscape. Different processes and techniques will be demonstrated as the course progresses, enabling you to learn new techniques and practise more familiar ones, improving your skills week by week through guidance and tuition. - Drypoint: this is a very direct intaglio technique that enables you to generate a print fairly quickly. - Linocuts: you will introduced to producing black and whire images as well as the reduction technique. If you already have some experience in print processes you will be able to develop this further and be introduced to additional techniques. You will be able to print limited editions for sale or to give to family and friends using our traditional hand presses.
