This short course (6 x 1 hours) is aimed at singers who want to learn how to read music at sight and understand notation and basic musical instructions. It is particularly useful for amateur singers who want to improve their ability to learn a song quickly and gain independence in learning a song without waiting to be shown. Suitable for soloists or choir singersWe will look at: - The basic elements of a note: pitch, duration, timbre, time signatures and scales - Some common terms in music, for example the note-names, and descriptions such as 'crescendo' and 'allegro' - practical sessions looking at music and singing as a group The course will be run at the level of the students attending and will be assessed informally by question and answer and observation/listening. No previous knowledge is required.
