This course is designed for those learners with an enquiring mind and a love of local history. This is a different concept to classroom study where you can study fascinating aspects of local history but you can't recreate the atmosphere of standing on the spot where it all happened. As a 'Historical Rambler' you will experience history first hand and in a more tactile and observant way, through bricks and mortar, by visiting sites, listening to the sounds of the river and industry and in looking for the unusual. We will 'meet' the people who shaped our city and peel back the layers of time to reveal what lies beneath. Although the course base is Gosforth we will meet every week in Newcastle and venture forth through history.
