Religious Studies is the study of the thoughts and beliefs of human beings from around the world in relation to the existence and nature of God, the difference between good and evil, right and wrong and the possibility of life after death. These ‘ultimate’ questions affect everyone at some point in their lives and have influenced the course of humanity in every corner of the world. The philosophy side of the course also looks at the challenges that science, sociology and psychology have made to religion, as well as studying the nature of religious language and religious experience. The ethics half of this A Level deals with ethical theory, medical ethics, free will, the conscience, the environment, relationships, war, peace and justice. The Developments in Religious Thought section of the course gives an opportunity to undertake a systematic study of key concepts within Christian thought.
