Entry Requirements: GCSE grade A or above in Chemistry is required to study this subject at A Level and a Level 7 or above in Mathematics is also required. For external candidates studying Additional Science at GCSE, a grade A in both Chemistry components is required in addition to a Level 7 or above in Mathematics. What is the course about? Students acquire a systematic and comprehensive knowledge of Chemistry, in addition to meeting cutting edge applications in the chemical industry and in modern life. The A Level is taught in context via a series of Storylines over the two years. Starting with Elements for Life, the Storylines cover a diverse range of chemical ideas, from Developing Fuels through the Ozone Story, to the biochemistry of Polymers, and the chemistry of the Oceans. You will develop your experimental, analytical and research skills through a variety of practical activities, and these skills will contribute to the Practical Endorsement, which is awarded at the end of the course. How is the course assessed? This course has a linear structure and will be assessed by terminal written examinations at the end of the two years.
