Mathematics

UPDATED 20161125 15:19:39

A-level Mathematics aims to develop a deeper understanding of important mathematical ideas in a way that promotes confidence and enjoyment, to enable students to encounter some of the major theorems of Mathematics and how some of them relate to ‘real-world’ problems, in order to be ready to develop this knowledge further in Higher Education or a career. You will experience a wide range of mathematical concepts and to apply them to a variety of more difficult and unstructured problems. You will learn how to communicate your ideas clearly and logically, and further develop your ‘independent learning’ skills. You will improve your understanding of coherence and progression in Mathematics and how different areas of Mathematics can be connected. Y12 Mathematicians have the opportunity to participate in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. Y12 Mathematicians also help with the running of the Primary Maths Challenge held at The King’s School in the Summer Term.
