As with the first year programme, A2 is taken over one year and contains two modules examined in June. Unit 3: Criminal Law Here attention turns to the Homicide offences, Assaults, Theft and the Defences. Students learn to distinguish between murder and the various forms of manslaughter, applying the law and the relevant specific defences in the process. As well as fine tuning their problem solving skills, students are also required to evaluate the law for the first time. Unit 4: Special Study paper This paper is on a different theme each year and it enables students to study one specific area of Criminal Law in depth. This paper provides an excellent introduction to University study and students will evaluate the area of Law by looking at judgments from case decisions.
