French A2

UPDATED 20160807 11:23:26

The best foundation for success is a GCSE grade B in the relevant language. You will need to feel confident at this level in the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. An interest in exploring in much more depth the topic areas that you will have covered at GCSE and in developing your understanding of the culture and way of life of the target language country will also be of an advantage. Students should also be willing to take advantage of any opportunities to make contact or work with native speakers. A Level—Paper 1 (2 hours 30 minutes) This unit assesses listening, reading and writing and all material will be related to aspects of French society including multiculturalism and politics and artistic culture in the French speaking world. You will have individual control of the recording. A Level—Paper 2 (2 hours) This unit assesses your knowledge of either a film and a book or two books. You will write a short essay responding critically to questions about the book or film you have studied. A Level—Paper 3 (20 minutes) Your teacher will hold a conversation with you based on material provided by the awarding body on one of the topics covered during the course. You will also make a short presentation and answer questions on your own individual research project.
