Religious Studies (Philosophy, Religion and Ethics)

This course examines the global impact of religious issues on contemporary society and how philosophy and ethics impacts our lives. This course will challenge students to compare their lives and their view of the world with that of prominent philosophers and theologians throughout history. The following ethical issues are looked at; abortion, euthanasia, animal testing, cloning, blood sports and sexual identity. We look at key philosophical topics including; the existence of God, the existence of evil, the use of language, miracles and freewill. We will also study a range of specific philosophers including; Bentham, Kant and Plato.
