Psychology is the scientific study of human and animal behaviour and experience. The AS course covers key areas of psychology such as cognitive, developmental, psychopathology and social. It explores current theories of memory, attachment, issues of abnormality and the pressure to conform. In the second year, students have a choice of topics which includes ‘Gender’, ‘Schizophrenia and ‘Eating behaviour’. An important aspect of both the AS and A2 course is the study of research methods and data analysis enabling students to carry out a number of practical research tasks.
