This course comprises completion of a number of units covering a broad range of business topics. The course will be assessed through three units of coursework, with two externally assessed examinations. You will study topics such as the business environment, human resources, marketing, finance, teamwork and international business. These units are based on the study of real businesses that you will research, and develop your understanding of. Previous businesses that we have studied include Morrisons, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Costa, Thomas Cook and McDonalds. This is an extremely popular course with a history of outstanding results. You will be expected to undertake further reading and independent study to meet deadlines. Coursework is assessed by producing a portfolio of work that is assessed internally, and then moderated by a visiting examiner from the examination board. Completion of all units in Year 12 to Distinction* standard will be worth 70 UCAS points. The full course at the end of Year 13 is worth 140 UCAS points at Distinction*.
