At AS Level, students learn about how the English Legal system operates, including the work of the police, the courts and different types of lawyers as well as how laws are made in England. The AS course is assessed with a two hour exam (worth 30% of the overall A-Level) and a one hour exam (worth 20%), both taken in May of Year 12. These studies are developed further in A2, where we look at the Law of Torts, a core legal topic which governs whether people can be sued in the civil courts for injuries or property damage that they have caused, even if only by accident. The A2 course is assessed with a 90 minute exam (worth 20% of the overall A-level) and a two hour exam (worth 30%) both taken in June of Year 13.
