At AS Level, students study one play text in depth and at least two key extracts from other plays through practical work students will also develop the ability to analyse the productions they will see during the course. Students also have to present an extract from a play which has been studied, taking full responsibility for all aspects of the production. They must also study the work of one influential theatre practitioner. Students can offer acting or a non-performance skill such as lighting, sound, set design or costume design as their individual skill in this performance, and must show their understanding through supporting notes. At A Level, students study another play and a second practitioner. A second practical performance is of a devised piece of drama created by the students.
