The course covers a variety of topics. The first year covers biology, chemistry and physics. There is a portfolio to be produced which focuses on the practical aspects of science, there are 6 practicals; measuring the rate of respiration, the Hill reaction, volumetric analysis, colorimetric analysis, measuring resistivity and measuring specific heat capacity. Students also explore topical scientific issues, ethical and moral issues involved in scientific advances. The second year focuses on biology and an original, extended practical invetsiagtion will be carried out.
