Within A Level Physical Education you will study a wide range of contemporary topics, relevant to today’s sporting world. You will develop a well-rounded skill set to prepare you for the progression towards further and higher study. The course is weighted heavily towards theoretical studies in topics such as; Physiology, Biomechanics, Skill Acquisition, Sports Psychology, Sport & Society and Technology in Sport. You will also be assessed on your practical ability within one sport from the specifications approved activity list. Final assessment will take place through a series of several examinations, written coursework and practical performance in your chosen sport. The coursework involves you analysing and evaluating in detail your performance in your chosen activity and applying the theoretical knowledge that you have learned to explain and correct areas of weakness. Your final grade will be based on 70% exam and 30% practical (15% written coursework, 15% performing).
