Media/Film/Tv Studies

UPDATED 20160318 09:41:43

Media Studies takes a modular approach, whereby students demonstrate progression by gaining knowledge and skills cumulatively. Mass media are defined as those technological means of communication which communicate with an audience primarily on a one-way basis. Predominantly these will be television, radio, film, the press and forms closely associated, such as advertising. You will be trained in the key concepts which form the basis for any understanding and analysis of a broad range of media, later looking in more detail at selected aspects such as film and broadcast fiction. Assessment is split into 50% terminal examination and 50% practical coursework. In this you will be expected to research, design, produce and evaluate your own media product.
