The Pure Mathematics (Core 1-4) part of this course extends the work covered in GCSE Mathematics in fields such as Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, and also introduces new, higher level topics including Calculus and Vectors. The Year 12 Mechanics Unit puts many of these mathematical ideas into a practical context; this will be of particular relevance to those studying A Level Physics. In Year 13 the Statistics Unit provides a framework for the analysis of data; this will be of particular use to those students studying Geography, Business Studies, Sociology or Biology.
