AS: Unit 1: Introduction to Language and Literature Study – you will study a variety of texts in an Anthology of thematically linked texts including a range of literary and non-literary genres. Unit 2: Themes in Language and Literature (Coursework) – for this unit you will study a pair of set texts, conduct your own independent research and produce a piece of creative writing. A2: Unit 3: Talk in Life and Literature – you will study naturally occurring and crafted speech through a dramatic play and transcripts of real life spoken situations. Unit 4: Text Transformation (Coursework) – you will demonstrate the knowledge and understanding you have acquired throughout the course by producing a folder which includes a transformation of two texts from a set list and a commentary. A variety of teaching methods will be employed to develop your thinking, writing and analytical skills as will as your confidence in presenting your opinions. You will be encouraged to lead as well as participate in seminar style lessons, undertake individual projects and work in small groups. Under staff guidance you will be encouraged to develop your own independent learning and research
