A-Level Religious Studies in Kings Priory School follows the new OCR syllabus (philosophy of religion, religious ethics and development of Christian thought). Religious Studies, especially the strands of philosophy, ethics and Christian thought, is a classic discipline that encourages students to question the meaning of life, experiences and practices of diverse cultures and the treatment of others. Studying philosophy, ethics and the development of Christian thought will give you a real insight into how people question what is true and morally right and arguments surrounding the existence of God and the practices of religion and people of faith. Religious Studies is very popular nationally. A vast range of university courses and professions value the skills fostered by studying this discipline including Law, Medicine, the armed forces and the police. No previous study of Philosophy, Ethics or Development of Christian Thought is required for A Level Religious Studies. However, you do need at least a B grade GCSE pass in English and a Humanities subject to study Religious Studies at A Level. You also need a broad and inquisitive mind.
