A-Level Geography in Kings Priory School follows the new AQA syllabus (7037) which covers both the physical and human environments and the complex interaction of processes that shape our world. It also, importantly, shows the applied side of the subject - how human intervention affects the environment and how people adapt and mitigate the effects of processes on their environment. A level geography will introduce students to many transferrable skills. Skills such as problem solving, communication, reasoning, literacy and numeracy are all highly desirable skills, required on most undergraduate courses, irrespective of their nature. Students following Geography at ‘A’ level have the opportunity of taking part in our foreign excursions. Previous destinations have included Iceland and Naples, and most recently Sicily. Whilst many of the topics covered during the A level course are new to students it can be some beneficial if students already have some familiarity with GCSE Geography. A GCSE Geography Grade of at least a ‘B’ along with GCSE passes in Maths and Science are useful but not necessarily prescriptive.
