D&T Textiles Technology

UPDATED 20161019 12:53:21

The course combines practical projects and in depth theory to fully prepare students for degree courses and careers in this field. Course work allows students to work to a design brief and complete a broad range of research tasks independently. Students are encouraged to take inspiration from design; art; culture; nature and many other areas to inform creative and innovative designs for products that have a specific end use and target market. They will be able to work using a range of mixed media to develop their skills and put their own stamp on their work when it comes to illustration and presentation of work. Practical skills will be stepped up a level from GCSE, to really stretch our students and encourage them to experiment and improve. Particularly in the drafting and development of dressmaking patterns.
