Everything you do and every choice you make is about economics. Wouldn’t you like to understand why everyone seems concerned about Unemployment, Inflation or things like House Prices? Wouldn’t you like to understand what the government is able to do to try to make us all better off AND why it may not always work? Economics is really about understanding people’s behaviour, either individually or when forming groups. It studies the incentives that people have when making a choice, what decisions they make and how all those individual decisions add up to affect us all in terms of things like prices and jobs. Economics is a highly respected academic subject. It tells people that you can think and solve problems in a logical way that you can apply rules but also be flexible in understanding how those rules relate to real people’s lives.
